ACL Graft Selection

ACL Graft Selection

ACL_AnatomyThe selection of your ACL graft is an important step in the reconstruction process.  There are a number of factors to consider in the selection of your graft.  These include your age, your activity level, your need to return to competitive sports/timing of your return, your profession, previous surgeries, and other conditions you may have such as connective tissue disorders like Marfan’s Syndrome.  The quiz below will help guide your selection and answer some of the important questions.  The three main grafts in use today are allograft (tissue from a cadaver), autograft hamstring tendon (your hamstring), or autograft patella tendon (part of your knee cap + patella tendon + part of your tibia).
